The Resurrection of Jesus
If Jesus died and remained dead, the Christian message would be pointless. But this was not the case. Jesus rose from death.

The resurrection of Jesus is obviously an important part of the Christian message. If Jesus is dead, what hope can the Gospel message offer you? If the man behind the message is dead, those who follow his message can only expect death also. Even the Bible states that if Jesus was not raised by God's power, then all those who believe in him and have died, are lost.
.
But the Bible records are forceful in stating that Jesus did rise from the dead:
> They found an empty tomb. When they arrived at the gravesite, on that Sunday morning, they found the grave open and the tomb vacated.
> They found the linen grave wrappings. Joseph and Nicodemus and others had wrapped the body in linen wrappings with aromatic spices. But the body was gone and these grave wrappings were left behind. It was as if the body had vanished from inside the wrappings. The head 'turban' was not even unwrapped. They were just lying there.
> There was a message from two angels. Mary looked inside the tomb, and she saw something amazing. There were two angels there. And they told here that Jesus had risen from the dead, and that he was going to Galilee.
> Jesus' followers saw Jesus alive. There were a number of times when they spent time with the living Jesus Christ after he rose from the dead. He visited his close followers in an upper room, spent time with two who were walking to a town called Emmaus, and he was seen by over 500 people at once.
> Jesus' followers spread the news that Jesus was alive! This was to the disappointment of the religious rulers, who could not disprove them. Some say that the rulers took the body to stop Jesus' followers doing anything with the body. Why didn't they simply display the body and disprove this message about Jesus being alive?
> They found an empty tomb. When they arrived at the gravesite, on that Sunday morning, they found the grave open and the tomb vacated.
> The disciples were willing to face opposition for Jesus. The disciples had run away from the authorities when they came to arrest Jesus in the garden before his death. They were now willing to confront the authorities who tried to stop their preaching. The message had changed their lives and attitudes.
.
Other writings in the New Testament have something to say about Jesus' resurrection, directly and indirectly.
> The resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead vindicates Jesus' claim to be the Son of God.
> Paul says that if Jesus was not raised from death, then his message and that of the other Christians is a lie! They would be lying about God. They were witnessing that God raised Jesus from the dead, and that was bad if God had not done so.
> Paul says that the resurrection of Jesus Christ is a guarantee that those who believe in Jesus will also be raised. Though they may die, they will live.
> The resurrection brings hope to those who believe in Jesus.
> The resurrection is also a guarantee of something after death! Paul speaks of the resurrection of the just and the unjust! Death is not the end of everything. Death is the start of eternity.
> Those who believed the message were caused to suffer if they told other people. These believers were prepared to suffer persecution and death because of their conviction that Jesus rose from the dead, and that they would also be raised from death. This willingness to face opposition is a great witness that the message of the resurrection of Christ was true.
